Reconstruction of The face

..

The process of facial reconstruction was initiated by capturing a three-dimensional model of the skull of the Lady of Cao, using state-of-the-art 3D scanners. Then, using specialized software and equipment and following international forensic facial reconstruction protocols, the muscles of the face, the eyelids, the shape of the eyes, the nose, the mouth and the skin were sculpted.

A multidisciplinary and international team consisting of archaeologists, anthropologists, dentists, forensic artists and engineers were in charge of this process.

Once the three-dimensional digital model of the head and face was reconstructed, a texturing and lighting work was carried out to add details of maximum realism to the digital images.

Then, we proceeded with the printing in three dimensions of the bust, using a 3D printer of very high resolution.

Finally, and always under the direction of the team of archaeologists of El Brujo Archaeological Complex, an artist specialized in the elaboration of replicas of archaeological goods, he worked on the details of the skin color, eyebrows, eyelashes, hair and other finishes.

For this important final step, ethnological research documents and a large number of photographs of women who currently live in the area of influence of El Brujo Archaeological Complex were used as reference.
This research project has as a result to approach us as accurately as possible to the true face that the Lady of Cao had in life, approximately 1700 years ago.
