How to get to El Brujo from Trujillo?

Getting to El Brujo is easy and convenient. From Trujillo, you can opt for several transportation options, such as taxis, buses, or organized tours. Here, we explain to you how to get there:

• Take a tour: In the historic center of Trujillo (Jirón Pizarro), different tour operators and agencies offer packages that include a visit to El Brujo, facilitating the experience.

• Public transport: You can take a bus for Chocope from the Papal, Larco, Grau and Mochica roundabouts. From there, you can take a bus to Magdalena de Cao and then an auto rickshaw to El Brujo.

• By car: If you have the chance to have your own car, you can use Google Maps or Waze to get to El Brujo by the Costanera highway. 

What to do during your visit to El Brujo?

El Brujo is not only an archaeological site: it is an enriching cultural experience. During your visit, you can choose from three routes that will take you to discover the history and art of the ancient societies that inhabited the region:

1. Classic Route: It consists in a short tour where you can appreciate the most relevant aspects of the Mochica settlement in Huaca Cao Viejo. The Site Museum allows you to observe and get to know the Lady of Cao. This route includes the Colonial Zone, located north of the aforementioned huaca.

2. Specialized Route: Focused on a specialized traveler who seeks to learn more about culture, and especially about archaeology. This route includes a visit to the four most important archaeological sites, Huaca Cao Viejo, Huaca Prieta and the monumental Huaca Cortada.

3. Mystical Route: This tour includes a visit to the ceremonial platform and the 2 ceremonial wells of the complex. This tour is focused on the visitor being able to see how the religious activities would have been conducted during the Mochica epoch.
