The ceremonial platform is a key space within the Mystical Route. With the purpose of revaluing ancestral healing practices, this space has been created in honor of the Lady of Cao. In it, symbolism of a spiritual nature is incorporated, such as a totem that represents the five elements (air, earth, fire, water and metal), personified in animals of power such as the jaguar, the snake, the eagle and the sea lion. 

The Mystical Route: An experience that you will never forget

The Mystical Route tour allows visitors to experience first-hand how the ancient Mochica interacted with the spiritual world. A fundamental element of this tour are the ceremonial wells, which served as portals between the earthly world and the world of the ancestors. These were designed with great care and symbolism. They were used in rituals of purification and communication with natural forces.

The ceremonial wells that we will visit on this route are:

➣ Ceremonial Well No. 1: Discovered in 1993, it has a diameter of almost 4 meters and a depth of 12 meters. Accessed by a spiral staircase, this well culminates in a sacred underground water source, used in water worship rituals.

➣ Ceremonial Well No. 2: Discovered in 2004, this well is even larger, with a diameter of almost 7 meters and a depth of 9 meters. It was used for purification and flowering rituals.

These wells are not only architectural structures, but also representations of the deep respect and connection that the Mochica felt towards natural forces, especially water, a key element in their worldview.
