From August 13 to 15, 2024, we will hold the X International Colloquium on Archaeology, entitled "Preserving in order to recover our memory. The conservation of the pre-Hispanic cultural heritage". This event, 100% digital and 100% free of charge, will bring together leading national and international experts to reflect and discuss the various ways in which the knowledge achieved by archaeology is transmitted and to rethink the role of the conservation of pre-Hispanic heritage in Peru. With a focus on archaeological sites and their site museums, methodologies and applications will be explored in the current context with the aim of improving the strategies and impact of this important work on our social life.

The X International Colloquium on Archaeology focuses on the conservation of pre-Hispanic cultural heritage, a fragile and irreplaceable resource essential for the recovery and promotion of the historical awareness of our peoples. The event seeks to evaluate and ensure the needs of documentation, conservation and custody of cultural heritage, thus guaranteeing the cultural rights of all Peruvians.

What topics will be addressed at the X International Colloquium on Archaeology?

The topics of the colloquium will be distributed throughout the three days of the event:

Day 1: Cultural Heritage, Conservation and its Management

On this first day, we propose to start the debate to rethink the role and meaning of the conservation of cultural heritage. Throughout the day, we will focus on presenting and analyzing experiences that bring us closer to conservation management and how it becomes a key instrument for social and economic development. 

Day 2: Training Linked to Cultural Heritage and its Challenges in the 21st Century

On this day, we will address education, training and transmission of knowledge of the conservation of cultural heritage in Peru, integrating national experiences and international perspectives. We will analyze current approaches and strategies applied in the training of conservation professionals, as well as future projections in this field. Also, we will discuss the impact of new technologies and their role as a support for the conservation of cultural heritage.

Day 3: Heritage Conservation – Praxis

On this day, we will present outstanding experiences in the conservation of immovable and movable heritage. The cases presented will allow us to delve into national and international practices, providing a comparative and enriching vision of the different methodologies and results obtained in the field of conservation.

Do I have to pay to attend the events?

No. The X International Colloquium on Archaeology in 2024 will be free of charge and will be held completely digitally.

Do I have to sign up for each event or am I automatically signed up for all of them at once?

You must sign up for each day or event in which you wish to participate. Each date has limited capacity, and your participation is subject to email confirmation.

What happens if I lose my internet connection during the event?

It is recommended to make sure that you have a stable internet signal to be able to participate in the event, as it will be held live.

Do I need to install any software to be able to attend?

The platform used for the colloquium is Zoom. Once your sign-up is confirmed, you will receive your access details for the platform. It is the participant's responsibility to download and familiarize themselves with the platform prior to the event.

Will you issue participation certificates?

Yes, digital participation certificates will be issued. The certificates will be sent to the email registered on the registration form within 30 working days after the end of the third day of the colloquium.
